Recovery
Immediately After Plano Breast Augmentation Surgery
After your breast augmentation surgery, you will be brought to the recovery room, where a nurse will monitor you closely. You will remain at the surgery center until it’s certain that you are fully awake and have adequate pain control. Because Plano breast augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia, you will need someone to drive you home after surgery. Expect to remain at the surgical facility for 1-2 hours after the completion of the procedure.
Pain after Plano Breast Implant Surgery
Most women experience pain significant enough to
require medication for 3-5 days after surgery; this is
particularly true if the implants are placed under the chest wall
muscle. The plastic surgeon prescribes both narcotic pain medications and
muscle relaxants to help with the pain immediately after surgery. After
the first few days, the pain has subsided enough to discontinue
prescription pain medications. If the implants have been placed above
the chest wall muscle, the pain after breast enlargement surgery is
usually less. Patients are asked to avoid aspirin or
ibuprofen for 2 weeks after surgery, as they can cause bleeding and
bruising.
Activity and Exercise after Plano Breast Enlargement Surgery
The plastic surgeons will ask you to walk around as much as tolerated after surgery. This helps prevent blood clots in the legs and can help restore your sense of well-being. You are not allowed to engage in strenuous activity or exercise for three to four weeks after surgery, as strenuous activity can cause serious bleeding.
Bruising and Swelling After Plano Breast Augmentation
You may have some bruising and be swollen for several weeks after Plano breast enlargement surgery. In the initial days and weeks right after breast augmentation surgery, your breasts will be firm and will sit high up on the chest. This is normal. The implants will soften up and will drop. In some cases, If you experience sudden swelling in the days after surgery, call your doctor's office.
